United Methodist Association of Communicators-Africa Region (UMAC-AR)
History:
In June 2005, a group of United Methodist Communicators from across Africa met with staff of United Methodist Communications (UMCOM) at Africa University in Zimbabwe. There, they discussed the dreams and struggles of their conferences and the sorts of communication training and equipment that could make their dreams a reality. While gathered, they decided to form an official association and to name it after the already existing United Methodist Association of Communicators (UMAC). In June 2006, UMAC-AR held its first official meetings during a communicators training event hosted by Africa University and UMCOM. During those meetings, UMAC-AR asked to use The Kamina Project website for the online posting of its news reports (since the UMAC-AR secretary was also the Kamina Project webmaster).
